Chemo went just as planned today. After the chemo, Dad started his radiation treatment. He said he almost feel asleep! He was disappointed though that he couldn't start early today and had to wait till his appointment time.
My dad's been to a million different doctors over the past month. He went in for a bad cold that he thought was the flu or pneumonia. He came out diagnosed with pneumonia and lung cancer. There is a tumor on his right lung that has grown and attached to his esophagus. It's inoperable and stage 3, but they say it's treatable. The cancer has also caused his right lung to partially collapse. The cancer has not spread to the rest of his body. He is determined to beat it, and will start with chemotherapy and radiation. The doctors told him it would be a tough radiation and chemo, and that they are "going to throw everything at him but the kitchen sink." But everybody keeps assuring him that they are going to kick this thing in the butt.
